Digital Marketing is more about marketing than digital. That’s why learning about your customer avatar is important before you learn other digital marketing strategies.
What Is A Customer Avatar?
A customer avatar is a person who represents your target customer. It is the type of person, you want to purchase your product and service.
It is also known as Marketing Persona, Customer Persona, User Persona, and many such names.
Einstein Marketer defines a customer avatar as :
” A detailed profile of your ideal customer. It doesn’t make assumptions or categorize people into groups. The avatar focuses on one person and outlines everything about them. It goes into much greater depth than a regular marketing persona, providing marketers with many more targeting tools.”
A customer avatar can be a fictional character. You can have a global avatar and also avatars for each customer segment.
Why Is Knowing Your Customer Avatar Important?
It is important to understand your buyer persona very deeply, as you know your close friend.
you should understand their fears, dreams, goals, challenges, opportunities, and many more.
If you understand your customers very well, they will feel like you are communicating with them directly.
communication always happens from person to person.
You will be able to sell your product if you understand three major points:
- Who is your ideal customer or audience is?
- Where they are?
- What kind of challenges do they face?
The better you know your customers, the more targeted and profitable campaigns you can run.
How To Create Your Customer Avatar?
It requires a lot of time and effort to create your first customer avatar.
To create a buyer persona you must have previous data collected in – forms, interviews, etc. You can start by identifying the known characteristics of your customers.
There are some steps to follow to create your customer avatar:
1. Name your Avatar
You should give a name to your customer avatar.
It will help to make it easy to refer to and remember.
2. Identify the demographics
Demographics help to understand and identify your customers.
The demographic data is very much valuable to understand how to market to customers.
Here are some questions about the audience that gives an idea of how demographics works:
- What is their age?
- What is their gender?
- How much is their income?
- Ask about their job profile?
- Their marital status?
- Are they introverts?
You have to get inside the head of your customers to refine your findings.
3. Identify Their Dreams and Goals
You have to identify that what is the big dream that they are trying to reach. This one piece of information can tell you a lot about a person.
You can also understand what are their short term as well as long term goals.
Make a list of values and goals that are relevant to offer. You can ask your existing customers for feedback.
Check out the questions that your potential customers are asking for.
4. Identify Their Challenges And Pain Points
When you understand the dreams and goals of your target customers very well, It’s time to know what kind of challenges and obstacles they are facing to achieve their goals.
To create a perfect customer persona you must know what are the pain points that your audience is going through.
The whole process of identifying the challenges of your customers will help you to generate great ideas to create new products and services.
5. How You Can Help Them?
After creating your customer avatar, now it’s time to see how you can help them.
You have to know how your product and services can solve any of their problems. How they will be able to reach their goal and dreams.
